WE HOPE

Fall 2000, but timeless.
Dear Deborah,
As Christmas approaches, my heart is with those couples who are still waiting for their "match"--their chosen child. In our 8-year journey to parenthood, this was always the hardest time of year for me to keep hope alive. But our God is more than able to accomplish what concerns us and His Word never returns void. Although we now rejoice as we hold our precious son, we hope this excerpt from a speech will be an encouragement to all--especially those still waiting for the details of God's plan.

...The challenge with God's plan for our lives is He likes to throw surprise parties and we want the details so we can R.S.V.P. But our Father loves to hear the "oohs and aahs" of His children when He unveils His blessings. That is why you need to memorize Romans 8:24-25 and hide it in your heart. It reads, "For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is not hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."
Let me give you an example. On July 4th, thousands of people come to see the fireworks display near our home. As the sun goes down, we wait patiently as we stare into a black sky because we know at any moment it will light up. How long do you think we would sit there if there was no hope of anything happening? Can we see where the fireworks display has been set up? No. Can we see the fireworks as they go up into the sky before they explode? No again. Until each one erupts in a bright burst of unimaginable design and color we can't see anything. All we have is our hope in the promise that it will happen.
We hope that others will continue to wait patiently upon Him for their special child.

We encourage you to follow God's loving guidance.
