IN RESPONSE

Tidbits from our Christian Adoption family. Names have been changed to protect privacy.

I am pretty good about bringing my "big" things to God--the physical health and financial/emotional/spiritual stability of my family. But I know His desire is for me to bring EVERYTHING to Him in prayer. ("Go to the Throne before you go to the phone." :) You are a living example of the awesome power and peace in living this way. I think I'll start prayer walking, too.

The women's retreat was such a blessing. Anita was one of four babies attending, and I have to say, the best one there (no bias here, huh?) She was her normal self - happy, talking, alert, smiling, did I say HAPPY??? She slept through the night even though there were some late-nighters in our dorm really having a good time talking until 2:30 in the morning! There was much good fellowship, lots of snacks, and praise and singing!! The highlight of my weekend was when a woman approached me and asked me if she could hold my baby for a minute. Not a strange request, but as we began talking, she said she had heard that Anita was adopted. She said that she had been observing Anita and I, and saw the love between us, and it comforted her! You see, 17 years ago, she placed a baby girl for adoption. She has always known she made the right decision, as she placed with a Christian couple, but somehow seeing us gave her a peace she had never known! She said that Anita reminded her of her baby girl she placed for adoption. We hugged and cried together. It was a God moment. I am so humbled that God can work in me in even this small way to give solace to a sister in Christ! It was a powerful reminder to me that God can work in any situation.

I just can't seem to find the words to express to you what a wonderful 4 days it's been, being associated with Christian Adoption. I feel like I've known you and the other families for years. When I receive my E-mail and read through the latest, I'm a real part of  something-- something very special. Please share with all the other CA families our extreme gratitude and amazement on how quickly they have responded with well wishes, prayers, and willingness to share very personal stories. These last few nights, as I've laid in bed, I've thought to myself, "Even if it's not in God's plans for us to adopt again, I am truly blessed to have met some very unique and loving people through CA." Not only is CA giving us support in the adoption process, but I know it is definitely strengthening my relationship with God. What a wonderful gift in and of itself. Thank you for all the past E-mails. I think I've printed them all and we've read through every single page. It's been great to get a sense of where some of the families have been these past few weeks and where they're heading. Some of the thoughts and stories have brought a smile to my face and certainly a chuckle or two.

I'm certainly enjoying being a part of CA! I appreciate your BIBLICAL approach to our needs and God's provisions, and the welcome we have received from "the family"! I wish I could express how I really feel on the inside about the interest, concern, and activity with and for us who are hurting so terribly on the inside. For years I've had almost no one who had gone down this path--so one has to hide the suffering with a smile and go on, pouring out the soul to God alone. Just to know there are others who can relate and have/are going down this path also, gives one solace and strength.

I was in K-Mart the other day and ran into a distant relative that I rarely see. He asked me if Jack and I have any children and I said not yet, but we're going to adopt. We continued in conversation and he mentioned some friends of his that live in Ohio and how they too wanted to adopt. Great opportunity to share about the web-site. I gave him a CA card and asked that he give the information to his friend. I didnt know whether or not he would make a great effort to pass it on but I thought that he might remember to bring it up the next time he spoke with this couple. Later, I was standing in the check out line and he came up and asked me for our E-mail address. The very next day he E-mailed us a copy of a message he sent to this couple. It contained the information given on the CA cards and a short little note about how he got it etc...I was so excited. The next day we received another E-mail, only this time it was from the female friend. She opened up a little bit and shared with me and I then E-mailed her back. It was really great. She said that she and her husband will visit the web site and be praying for His guidance. They have been trying to adopt for about 2 years now. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. I know that God may have other plans in store for this couple, however, I really felt strongly about sharing the CA web site with them so that they can be praying about this avenue of adoption. It just felt good to be able to share with someone and to give them a little support. I know that God helps us in our experiences to make us stronger and I believe that He also helps others going through the same situations. Thanks again for allowing God to work through CA!
