CONNECT THE DOTS
It costs money to adopt a child. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, but it does cost money.
It's the term "a lot" that concerns most couples pursuing adoption, and often scares them away from the process. The average adoption in the United States costs $15,000-$30,000. Standard operating procedure for payment is the use of a credit card or acquiring an adoption loan (much like a 20-year mortgage loan). At Christian Adoption, we do not subscribe to the acquiring of loans, incurring debt in order to adopt a child or the practice of placing a child on plastic. It is our opinion that Christians that are motivated by love in their pursuit of adoption want to glorify God's magnificent grace and loving kindness.
Christian Adoption advocates that God is able to meet the needs of His people and to meet their needs at their financial level. We have witnessed such grace and glory time and time again. Many Christians that contact us are endeavoring to stay within a financial budget, and that is prudent stewardship. They do not want to be bankrupt the moment they become parents. Yet, we have also witnessed situations where it appeared they would empty their bank accounts to complete their process, but God intervened with unexpected gifts of funds and services. How God will answer the prayers of His people is His prerogative. Our responsibility is to continue to trust in Him and in His ability to supply and to provide.
However, adoption does cost money and the laborer is worthy of his hire. For those Christians that contact us asking to adopt a child for pennies, are not connecting the dots. It costs money to live, to buy food, to buy diapers, and to pay phone bills. It costs money to travel for your child, to pay attorneys, to pay court-filing fees, to acquire copies of documents, and to complete a home study. These are unalterable facts concerning the adoption process. How God will work within each of these financial obligations is the fun part of trusting in Him. Too often we speak with Christians that say they trust in God to answer their prayers, but their confessions reveal their inner thoughts. We hear the same statements over and over again; "We don't have any money to adopt; our funds are very limited; we spent all of our money in infertility procedures; we need an adoption that is as cheap as possible; we only have "$" and if we can't adopt for that much--then we will quit pursuing; I don't want to work a job to acquire more funds to pay for our adoption process; it will have to be a cheap bill for us to adopt " These comments, statements, and confessions do not exemplify a trust in our great God, but rather place limitations on His ability to "make a way where there is no way". For those Christians that are seeking to adopt a child, we offer this counsel. God is Almighty, He is the creator of the heavens and the earth and He is your strength, your refuge, and your deliverer in all of life's challenges. If you are short on funds for the adoption process, then seek His guidance as to how you can acquire more funds. Change your confession from lack--to prosperity. Confess His Word and His promises and you will not be disappointed. It costs money to live, it costs money to take a vacation, it costs money to advertise, and it costs money to adopt a child.
Living costs money, so does adoption: connect the dots.
