HALL OF FAME

Written by Deborah.

3/27/03

So the Lord was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

Joshua 6:27

David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer. And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the respect of him upon all nations.

I Chronicles 14:16-17

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria…

Matthew 4:23-24a

Joshua believed, trusted and obeyed God. David believed, trusted and obeyed God. Jesus believed, trusted and obeyed God.

To believe, to trust and to obey God are the criteria for being listed in God's HALL OF FAME.

In the secular realm, there's a Baseball Hall of Fame, a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, a Football Hall of Fame, a Country Music Hall of Fame and the list goes on and on. Why are the names of these people in these various Halls of Fame? Because they've earned the respect of those around them. How did they earn such respect? Because they proved themselves to be DOERS and to be COMMITTED and refused to quit. These mortal beings are respected for their talents and abilities, but more so because, they just didn't quit. When the tough got going, they "dug in" mentally and kept pressing ahead. When success seemed to elude them, they pressed on. When disappointment confronted them, they kept going. When deadlines and time frames came and went without an accomplished goal, they stay focused. We refer to them as successes, because they didn't quit. They developed and held onto a "Take no prisoners" attitude.

In the spiritual realm, there's God's Hall of Fame. We can read countless records of men and women of God that refused to succumb to defeat. They refused to quit. They continued, in spite of great challenge and sacrifice; to believe, trust and obey God.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith Abel…By faith Enoch…But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. By faith Noah…By faith Abraham…Through faith Sara…By faith Isaac…By faith Jacob…By faith Joseph…By faith Moses…And what shall I more say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephtheae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies…Women received their dead raised to life again…    Hebrews 11:1ff

Did these men and women of God have it all together, all the time? No. Did they face challenges every day? Yes. Did they have "fun filled days" each day? I don't think so. BUT what they did do--was they continued to press ahead. They continued to believe, trust and obey God. They kept moving ahead with the things of God, convinced that God was on their side.

Are you tired of pressing ahead? Are you tired of waiting? Are you ready to quit? Do you feel weak and inadequate? Do you feel helpless and hopeless?

Okay, so you're human and have a hunk of flesh to contend with, well, me too. (And by the way, welcome to life on planet earth until the Lord returns.) BUT until he returns, we can be victorious, as we believe, trust and obey God.

God can refresh your soul. God can give you His peace and waiting won't seem so overwhelming. God can give you the courage to press on. God can strengthen you. God can help you and renew your hope, IF YOU DON'T QUIT.

In the world of adoption, more specifically the ministry of Christian Adoption--I can't help quitters. If you quit pursuing adoption, I cannot help you. If you quit trusting in God's ability and willingness to help you, His hands are tied (so to speak). Quitters aren't winners and winners aren't quitters. What are you going to do today about WHATEVER battle you are mentally waging? Are you going to believe, trust and obey God? Or are you going to quit and live in defeat? The choice is yours; the results are yours to enjoy or to regret.

Do you have this wall plague in your home?

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Then make a decision to go God's way and serve Him.

Serve Him and let the fame of your believing in Him be noised abroad.

Make a daily decision to have your name listed in God's HALL OF FAME.
