THE FALLS
A wonderful story submitted to Christian Adoption by one of our couples.
In a recent devotional in The Upper Room a man named Newell Knudson compared his problems with Niagara Falls. He had seen the Falls from the ground and considered it to be an awesome spectacle. He stood and the top of the Falls and watched tons of water cascade into the gorge nearly 400 feet below. He rode in a boat to the base of the Falls and felt the mist and the thundering roar of the falling water. From each of these perspectives, the Falls is an awesome and spectacular sight. Recently, this man, flew over Niagara Falls in a jetliner at an elevation of 35,000 feet. How different mighty Niagara Falls appears from this perspective! The river looks like a dull green canyon line, and the Falls looks like an uneven mark on the line. This spectacle of overwhelming power appears insignificant.
He then said, "When I feel overwhelmed by life's problems and cares, I remind myself of flying over Niagara Falls. When I can look at problems from God's perspective, I begin to realize that they are not nearly as fearsome as I imagine.
God cares. God's power will help me, and God's perspective will guide me.
