SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

Christian Adoption prays for the completion of successful adoptions bringing blessings to everyone involved in the process. We endorse a Christian walk of integrity, uprightness, and honesty. A significant part of the Christian walk is taking time to pray for guidance, direction, and deliverance. As representatives for the many Christians that are praying to adopt, we continue to devote time to prayer for all involved in the adoption process. Prayer time doesn't just happen--this quiet time to intercede for others has to be planned into each day's activities. It requires discipline and commitment. A great portion of our success as a service ministry should be credited to the power found in this devoted time of prayer.

As a Christian how much time do you spend in prayer? A minute, a few minutes, 15 minutes, perhaps 30 minutes per day? An hour of prayer each day can make the difference in the success of the other 23 hours. As a Christian seeking to adopt a child do you pray about your adoption process? Do you spend time in prayer for your baby/child, time in prayer for the birthmother, for the birthfather, the birthgrandparents, for your ability to parent, for the long term benefits to your church family, to your community, to your home state, and to your country? Do you place your petitions each day before our gracious God? Or do you pray once in awhile and determine that the occasional effort should be good enough?

Prayer is communion time with God. It is humbling yourself before His throne and pouring out your heart to Him; letting your needs, your wants, your weaknesses, and your thanks be known. It's also crawling up into your heavenly Father's lap, resting in His peace, and being comforted by His love. Our Lord Jesus Christ dedicated himself to prayer time and he isolated himself from the world to pray. Our lord often spent time in prayer early in the morning. We would be wise to follow his example, even though this special time in prayer may be a challenge to schedule. Prayer time has to be planned, the world does not allocate this time to you. Simply stated and for emphasis, if you don't take time to pray, you won't. 'To pray' is a verb and a verb connotes action, which requires effort. (Note: to eat and to sleep are also verbs!) We are instructed to follow IN HIS STEPS. Our lord prayed fervently, it was a priority, and he considered it a necessity to walk by the spirit. To walk by the spirit requires a knowledge of God's Word and the proper understanding/application of that knowledge. Prayer time can assist the Christian in their application of God's truths.

The Christian that is seeking God's direction and deliverance needs to acknowledge the necessity of prayer. The Christian adoption process requires tenacity, endurance, and walking with wisdom--time in prayer will help you with these challenges. For those that have been on the roller coaster ride of adoption, this time in prayer should include prayers for failed placements, birthmothers, agencies, and facilitators that may have defrauded you in any way.

Any time spent in prayer is worthwhile. At Christian Adoption we offer prayer support and encouragement to anyone considering adoption. It is our joy to pray with and for you--please let us know about your prayer requests and we will join with you upon God's matchless Word for answers and deliverance.

"When you pray, nothing never happens." (John Piper, 1999)

"I don't suppose there is any place in the New Testament history where we have departed more from the early church than in this matter of prayer…Do you want enough power to light the whole room or just a night light?" (Clyde Billingsley, 1999)

SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!

That calls me from a world of care,

And bids me at my Father's throne

Make all my wants and wishes known;

In seasons of distress and grief,

My soul has often found relief;

And oft escaped the tempter's snare,

By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!

Thy wings shall my petition bear

To Him whose truth and faithfulness

Engage the waiting soul to bless;

And since He bids me seek His face,

Believe His Word and trust His grace,

I'll cast on Him my every care,

And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer.
