"Can you help my husband and I adopt a child? We found your number on the Internet and want a baby desperately. I thought I 'd call you to get your help."

"Did you spend any time on our web site to learn more about us?"

"Yes, I read the list of requirements and then decided to call you. I don't want to fulfill the list of requirements. I already know that we're supposed to list with you."

"In order to come online with us, you must fulfill the list of requirements. There is a purpose for that list and we require that they are fulfilled."

"Well, you are Christian and so am I, so why do I have to do that much work to come online? We just want a baby."

"Because we have found from past experience that those that do the work and fulfill the list of requirements are the Christians that are supposed to come online with us. In short, the requirements are a sort of screening process."

"I don't want to spend that much time doing them. I want to come online now--I know you can get us a baby."

"I cannot 'get' you a baby. I don't have the ability to answer prayer, only GOD can answer your prayers. I cannot 'strong-arm' a birthmom to place her baby with you. AND you don't want me to try to figure out God's best for you--I'm too human to do that. If you are unwilling to do this minimal amount of work to adopt a child, then I recommend you consider going elsewhere."

"Why can't you just help us? We have waited 2 looonnnnggg years to have a child and I just cannot wait any longer."

"I assure you that 2 years is not a lllooonnnggg time. We have worked with couples that have waited 14 years, 17 years to become parents. God's timing is not our timing. I am willing to help you, if you want to do your part--fulfill our list of requirements and submit your information to us."

"I think the list is too long and too hard. Besides, God already directed me to you, and that is good enough for me."

"If God is directing you to list with us, then you will not have a problem following the rules that we have prayerfully outlined and require."

"How many kids do you got? We thought we would call and find out how to get one. Does it cost money?"

"Yes, I think you may want to call the foster care system in your state about 'getting' a child."

***

"I'm calling to ask you to make an exception for us? We want to come online with you now and we will send funds to you later. Is that okay?"

"No, all fees are payable up front. We do not offer a payment or credit plan."

"It seems to me that you are making lots of money from all these Christians on your web site. Why can't you help us out?"

"If you would like to contact our CA accountant, they can tell you how much money we are not making from our brothers and sisters in Christ. After completing our income tax figures, let me give you an idea of what we spent in the year 2000: we gave almost $7,000 in contributions to other Christian ministries/missions/organizations, we spent over $8,000 in printed advertising/Yellow Page ads/radio exposure, over $7,000 in office supplies/computer equipment/printers, over $3,000 in postage, over $6,000 for phone bills, over $5,000 in taxes/attorney/acct. fees, almost $3,000 for our ISP servers/Internet web site domain, I was paid a salary of $13,000 for the first time in almost 4 years and the list of expenses goes on and on. Additionally, we did what we said we would not do in the year 2000--we gave over $10,000 of our own income to CA to help with the expenses and the expansion of Christian Adoption."

"Well, sounds to me like you have a lot of money coming in."

"Yes, and just as much going out. It costs money to maintain a service ministry."

"I think you could be more lenient and help people like us."

"Perhaps you would like to consider starting your own web site?"

"Well, maybe we will and we'll be fair about it."

"Hi, I just called to find out more about CA? We want to adopt a baby girl that is a newborn, that is 100% Caucasian, we don't want to meet the birthmom, we want her to live in our neighboring state, and we don't want to spend more than $5,000, and we want our baby by October."

"We're the first contact you have made about adoption?"

"Yes and we want to work with a Christian organization."

"Do you want to trust in God to give you His best?"

"Well, sure I do."

"Then, we'd better back up with that long list of demands you have and consider that God's best may not be just what we want. To trust in Him, is to submit to Him. And if He leads you to come online with us, He will bless you with His best in His timing. Do you want to hear more?"

"As long as I get my baby girl by October."

"Ma'am, I cannot tell you when God will bless you with a child, be it a boy or a girl. But if you want to go God's way, you will have to 'let go' of the demand list. If you want to know more about CA, I suggest you go to our web site and spend some time studying it. Then we will see where God directs your steps. Call me again after you have learned more about what we do and who we are."

Dear Deborah,

This is an uncomfortable feeling for me to allow myself to expose how much my husband and I want to adopt. It was very hard to come to this decision, because it is a long and expensive process and can be difficult. I have been asking God to lead us to the right people, that have more success rates and less scams. I am fortunate that we do have biological children, but would like to adopt. Unless it is totally necessary, I would like to leave out some of my personal reasons for wanting to adopt. I do not wish for this to be known because my husband is very sensitive about this and we just want as few involved in this as possible. I am praying to adopt a healthy black newborn, not African American. My preference is a girl, but I will take a boy. I heard that little girls are in so much more demand and I do not want to make the process any harder that it is. I have not signed up with an agency yet, because I am just afraid of the roller coaster ride. I do not want a listing service such as Christian Adoption to take advantage of me and my husband. I know that a lot of attention can be drawn from the name alone, but I pray that you're not a scam artist. I have had many downfalls in my life, and do not want to go through unnecessary scams. As a seed of faith, I am sending this letter to you to act as my prayer request and I am going to sit back and watch the outcome. D.

AND SO WE PRAY…

The highest privilege ever afforded to man is the power of prayer--and so we pray.

As His children, we have the right to talk to the Omnipotent--and so we pray.

The most powerful force accessible to man is the potential of prayer--and so we pray.

The greatest longing in the heart of God is to communicate with His children--and so we pray.

Every sin is forgiven, every stain is washed clean, all guilt eliminated because of Christ--and so we pray.

Satan and his host flees from the man who prays--and so we pray.

Anointing can come, mountains can be moved, valleys can be made smooth, rivers can become crossable, the inaccessible becomes accessible, He makes a way where there is a no way, dreams become reality to those who pray--and so we pray.

Jesus said that men ought always to pray--and so we pray.

God instructs us to pray without ceasing--and so we pray.

Anyone can pray, the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the strong, the weak, the child, the aged, the sinner, the prisoner, in any nation, in any language, all can pray--and so we pray.

We pray with conviction, we pray according to His Word, we pray with humility, we pray with expectation.

We are Prayer Warriors in our Christian Adoption family--and so we pray.
