WHICH LANE DO YOU CHOOSE?

As my husband and I travel our nation's highways, I have ample time to pray, reflect, ponder, meditate, dream, solve, create, and learn. God has directed our path onto this highway for this time in our lives. Over the past 5 years, we have seen countless reasons why He did. As we continue to trust in His guidance and direction for our lives, He faithfully provides us with insight and inspiration.
What lane do you like best? Where are you most comfortable?
In trucking, we are required, in ALL states, to drive in the right 2 lanes of the highway. We can pass on the left, but must return to the right lane. When we go home (1/month for 4 days) I tend to drive in the right lane anyway. Why am I so comfortable driving our pick-up truck in the right lane? Do I feel safer, more confident or is it just habit. My conclusion is that we spend 26-27 days of every month in the right lane. We feel at home there and life makes more sense in the right lane. If I parallel this with my walk with God, this is the lane I choose to stay in most of the time. Wherever I spend the most time, is where I feel at home. If I choose to become anxious, doubtful and try to speed up God's delivering process, I'm in the left lane. If I'm trying to get myself somewhere fast, faster than God's plan - I'm driving in the fast lane, possibly weaving in and out of traffic. On the other hand, if I drive the speed limit, maintaining safe distances between other drivers, and not allowing myself to become distracted by other drivers that might get in my way, I'm in the right lane. AND I'm much calmer and at peace with Him. My relationship with God is one where I experience love, joy, peace and hope. I fully trust Him with my heart, my marriage, my job and my desire for children. This is where I feel at home, because this is being HOME with God. Often I have ventured into the fast lane many times--in our BIG truck, in our pickup truck and in my desire to have children. It always seems so frantic and my mind can be overly concerned about the hazards that may appear to lie ahead. Usually I don't need to move that fast and I don't need to see all of what lies ahead. But rather I need and should be content with God's RIGHT lane, trusting in His timing, whether it be speedy or not. My heart rests in God's peace and when I'm resting in Him, I don't want to venture out on my own. His peace is free, readily available and immediate. It's important to remember that highways have shoulders and they aren't meant for long stops but are perfect for emergencies. Periodically there are also rest stops for those that become weary and need to be rejuvenated. God can meet us on the shoulders of life or at the rest stops. He will guide us if we need to be in the fast lane and He will gently remind us to return to the RIGHT lane, His peaceful lane.
We love our CA family and continue to pray for you as we travel down these roads of life--together.
