IT IS IN GOD

There are so many records in God's Word that teach us to trust in God for our deliverance. Perhaps it will be encouraging to consider a couple of these inspiring accounts.

IT IS IN GOD

In I Samuel 30:1-6, is the record of David returning to Ziklag. David and his men had offered to go to battle with the Philistines, but the princes forbade him and Achish asked him to depart. When David and his men returned to Ziklag, they discovered that the Amalekites had invaded and taken their women, their daughters, and their sons captive, as well as burned the city. In I Samuel 30:4 "Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep." I Samuel 30:6 "And David was greatly distressed, for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters, but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

IT IS IN GOD

Here is the wonderful and great man of God, David, leading his men and walking with the Lord his God. He returns to his home city and finds the place burned, all the women and children taken captive, and the response of the people is to stone him. He was alone and his life was on the line. The people were all against him, all the odds were all against him. But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

IT IS IN GOD

In II Chronicles 14:1-15, is the record of Asa. Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. Then, Zerah, the Ethiopian came out against him. Asa had 580,000 men and Zerah had a million men. Asa's men were equipped with targets and spears or bare shields and drew bows. Zerah's army had chariots, which indicates they were battle ready and better equipped. The odds were against Asa and his men and Asa knew it. II Chronicles 14:11 "And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help…help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude…" What did God do? It is all summarized in just a verse.

I Chronicles 14:12 "So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled."

IT IS IN GOD

For David and for Asa, the odds were against them. What they could see and observe with their five senses indicated they were sunk. The odds were all stacked against them.

But they received deliverance, against the odds, in spite of the odds--God did hear their pleas, petitions, and prayers. God delivered them and He was not late.

IT IS IN GOD

In the roller coaster ride of adoption, and the sometimes maze of life--the odds often seem to be all against you. At times obstacles and circumstances appear to be working against you. Perhaps your mind even thinks--"the cards are stacked against me". Perhaps your mind races for answers. Perhaps you consider and even confess: "If only I/we had more contacts, more leads, more offers, more money, more responses, and more indicators for our deliverance."

IT IS IN GOD

However, the certainty of deliverance is not in the odds. The sureness of your help is not in the cards, the circumstances or the five-sense indicators. The odds of a situation do not matter. The statistics do not matter. The obstacles do not matter. The number of contacts, leads, offers, your financial condition, the number of provided responses, and/or what the world says--does not matter.

IT IS IN GOD

Your deliverance is not in the odds.
