IMPECCABLE!

2.4.04

In our quest for adoption, we have been searching adoption options and covering them in prayer. We continue to seek the Lord's guidance and leading for us. We are considering Russian adoption and are also looking into adoption through an agency. We've not had much success with the latter, as we've been working on paperwork since June '03. Recently we went to an orientation related to this agency and after a 2-hour presentation that PUSHED foster care and barely touched on independent adoption (emphasis on only older children-over 6), we were once again discouraged. Not with God or our direction, but with the whole governmental system and the world's complicated adoption process. We stayed after the meeting to talk with some of the representatives and to inquire about infant adoption. Sadly we received the same information we've heard by ALL the other agencies we've investigated. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CAUCASIAN BABY, IT'S $22,000. HOWEVER, IF YOUR ARE WILLING TO TAKE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN BABY, WE CAN DROP THE PRICE TO $13,000. Now, don't misunderstand our position, it's not about being Caucasian or African American, but that statement just rattles my brain. Like AA babies are somehow worth less? How is that NOT discrimination and placing financial values on human life? Needless to say, we left feeling dismayed once again, discouraged, lost, and anxious. Not what we Christians are supposed to feel--we're BELIEVERS! But then something happened. As we left the building, an AA woman caught up with us in the parking lot. She began to tell us her story of being pregnant once and had to go to the ER and in the process they took her baby by mistake and rendered her unable to have more children. She has missed the presentation and came there hoping and looking to adopt pre-teen or teenage children. We began to explain and share what we'd just learned about this agency. She was so full of joy over this new knowledge, because we were sharing with her the EXACT information she needed and that she'd been praying about--for the past 15 YEARS! She was in tears as she told us her story and as she heard the answers she'd been seeking all these years. We encouraged her to take the packet we'd received, to RUN home and fill it out! She took our name so she could pray for us, our adoption, and for CA! As we continued to our car, I  said, "We left this meeting thinking this was not the way for us to go (and it isn't) but this is the WAY for this woman. God led us to this meeting, so we could meet this woman, our SISTER IN CHRIST, and help her find her answers and deliverance from God."

To God be all the glory and praise and we'll continue to follow His guidance and trust in His timing--which is IMPECCABLE!
