CAST YOUR
NETS
Now when he (Jesus) had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your NETS for a draught (a catch of fish). And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless at thy word I will let down the NET. And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their NET brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had taken. (Luke 5: 4-9)
We have included a substantial number of vignettes regarding the financial aspect of the adoption process. It is one of the main topics of discussion with almost every couple. Part of this is due to our 'cash oriented' and 'cash awareness' culture. We understand the pressure that finances can place on the couple that trusts God, and yet still balances a checkbook each month. There are many mental challenges and mental hurdles to overcome regarding the financial aspect of adoption. We just don't work with people that are willing to "buy" a baby. We don't encourage anyone to compromise their Christian principles and ethics. However to anticipate that adoption should be "free" is not realistic. The only thing in life that is free, is salvation---because it cost God, His only begotten son. Everything else in life costs something. Cost/value can be measured by effort, by money, by commitment, by loyalty, by devotion, etc.
We are to trust in our heavenly Father's ability to be our sufficiency and to supply our every need. He instructs us to cast out our NETS. In response, we often cast out a hairnet and wonder why we receive so little in return.
May we not only take God at His Word and cast out our NETS, by trusting Him fully; but may we also cast all our cares upon Him--for He cares for us. (I Peter 5:7)
(Oh, did I forget to mention that 'to cast' is a verb, and a verb connotes action. Action requires labor, which is also known as work--both mental and physical?)
