"WE'RE MATCHED !"
This tender record of the love between an adoptive couple and their birthmother, was written
by one of our Christian Adoption couples.
Names have been changed to protect privacy.
We came home tonight to a message from a birthmother we have been speaking with: "Hi Rick and Tina. Umm, I sent you an E-mail. If you could read it, then I'll give you a call later tonight." Sounded kind of ominous and we trudged in to the computer. She had sent a beautiful E-card saying," Thank you for your friendship." At the bottom she wrote, "I have some great news for you guys and can hardly wait to share it. I'll call you tonight."
Before we got offline she sent another E-mail with her phone number asking us to call. I did. She told me, "I was reading the Christian Adoption web site this afternoon and read the story of Julie and how she chose the adoptive parents. I got this strange chill all over that kind of scared me. Then I realized what it was. I began to cry and realized this was exactly how I felt about you and Rick. I'm as sure as I can be at this point that I want you guys to be the parents." I was so overwhelmed and so happy I could only laugh. My voice began to crack and Liza said, "Don't you cry! Then I'll start crying!" We just continued to laugh together and made more plans for this weekend--our first face to face meet! She is absolutely amazing!!! I am still a bit numb, I think. I really cried for the first time tonight when I listened to Deborah's voice mail message. It looks like we're getting a Christmas baby! God delivers in His perfect timing!
From Rick & Tina to Liza: It's almost 3 hours since our conversation and I am still speechless--really! We are humbled beyond words that you have chosen us to parent this precious child you are carrying. Ron and I just didn't know what to say to each other tonight. We could only smile. You probably understand the rush of 100 different emotions. Mostly we are in awe of how wonderful God is, and how perfectly He put us together with you--we have so much in common. In the days and weeks to come we will all be consumed with the details of making this a reality, but today I just want to take the time to tell you what an extraordinary woman you are. You have made an extremely difficult choice with strength and grace. You have overcome obstacles, but kept a positive and hopeful attitude. You have put forth every effort to find the right adoptive parents for this baby with love that is evident in all you do. And, you have continued to listen for the still, small voice of God to guide you and give you assurance. I am so very impressed by you! I love your wit and your spirit and and your resourcefulness and your determination. I pray that this experience teaches you ONE--that you can always rely on God, and TWO--that YOU can do absolutely anything you put your mind to. One of my favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you; declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He does have a wonderful plan for your life, Lisa. I can't wait to see what kinds of mountains begin to move out of your way as you make plans for completing your education and training for work you want to do. Ron and I will, of course, always pray for you. Thank you seems like so little to say, but "Thank You" from the bottom of our hearts. We can hardly wait to see you this weekend!
Love,
Rick & Tina
