TIME WARP

Time Warp candidates include:
A working single mother; a married couple with 1 or more children and both parents work outside the home; a married couple with at least 2 children; a family that home schools a child or children; a family that runs a farm or farming operation; a married couple with children and 1 parent has a travel related job; a married couple with 1 child and 1 parent works 2 jobs; a married couple with a child that is involved in sports/music lessons/dance lessons/any lessons outside the home; a married couple that has at least 1 child with additional immediate family responsibilities; a married couple with at least 1 child that is super involved in church activities/responsibilities; a married couple that owns their own business
These are folks that understand TIME WARP--a place that seems like a "black hole" in time and space. These are the days that whisk by in a millisecond, much like a well ventilated drain with a tub full of water---slllluuuuurrrrpppp sssssuuuucccckkkk and the day is gone in a moment. A moment of time is gone in the time warp zone. Much like the missing sock disappears to "lost sock world", so the days, weeks, months and years can slip away into time warp.
I fully appreciate and have often visited the time warp zone. As a married couple with at least 2 children; a family that home schools children; a family that runs a farming operation; a married couple with children and 1 parent has a travel related job; a married couple with at least 1 child and 1 parent works 2 jobs, I am familiar with time warp.
However, I've learned that I can avoid the time warp zone by using more brain rather than braun.
If I take a magnifying glass outside on a sunny day and wave it around, the only thing I accomplish is becoming dizzy. But, if I take a magnifying glass outside on a sunny day and focus it on a specific object (a piece of paper) and keep it focused on my subject (a piece of paper) the suns rays will soon start a fire. By being focused on a task and remaining focused until the task is completed, whether in a day, a week, a month or a year--success is guaranteed. Focus, focus, focus

My days are numbered in Time Warp, as I continue to focus on the tasks at hand and remain committed to short and long term goals. With effort and discipline I'm learning, as you can too, how to avoid losing days of LIFE to the time warp zone. I'm not suggesting that as a mother with lots of responsibilities that I'll never go to time warp zone, but I am offering hope to those that think they'll live there indefinitely.
Life is lived in the NOW, not in the yesterdays or in the possibilities of tomorrow. As adoptive couples, we tend to live in the painful past or live entirely in the future. Praying for future events, goals and dreams is Biblical and sound thinking. However, many adoptive couples put their lives on "hold" until they adopt, thus placing additional pressures upon themselves and limiting God's hand of blessing.
If you feel like you live in Time Warp, try setting some short term personal goals and work each day, if only in prayer about them, until you realize success. If you don't experientially know time warp, then please pray for those of us that face it each day.
Our Christian Adoption family is a wonderful source of godly inspiration, personal experiences, business knowledge, brilliant minds, tender hearts and loving souls. Please let us know how we can help you in every area of life, including how to manage time warp.
For more information please read Techie and Lingo. We encourage you to prayerfully consider registering with our service, and/or writing to us.
