As Christian Adoption couples, we tend to focus on babies. Most of us want newborns and a sweet little baby to hold and cuddle. It’s easy to forget that babies become toddlers, then preschoolers, grow into young boys and girls, and then come the teen years. One day, we’ll be sharing teenager tips with each other in Christian Adoption! But for now, be encouraged. Babies are awesome and I hope you'll pray for a scenario like this...

Our 3 year old son, Samuel, found a beautiful leaf and was admiring it when we walked into McDonald's. As I placed our order, Samuel asked me if the woman behind the counter had Jesus in her heart.

I replied, "I don’t know honey, why don’t you ask her?"

He handed her the pretty leaf, smiled, and said, "Do you have Jesus in your heart?"

The young woman accepted the leaf with wide eyes. Stammering she said, "Well, I think so. Um, well, sort of. I think I do."

We made more small talk and Samuel hugged her before we sat down to eat. I never gave the encounter another thought.

Recently we went back to McDonald's and the young woman behind the counter cheerfully said,

"Oh look, it's Samuel!"

She approached us at our table, knelt down at eye level with Samuel, and hugged him.

"Do you remember when you came in here and gave me a leaf? I keep that leaf on my dresser. I want you to know that last Sunday, I was baptized. I have Jesus in my heart!"

Samuel grinned, they hugged again and we were on our way.

What a blessing! To witness the simple faith of a child leading someone to Christ--and to have it be my child!

This is one of the reasons we have children; to testify about our Lord Jesus Christ.
