THANKFUL

We received our first packet in the mail from you! We stayed up until 11:30 p.m. reading some of the material you sent. Boy, it sure is hard to put it down. We were both getting cross-eyed and decided we should call it a night. Hearing about the experiences of others makes things so much easier. When we read about the bad experiences, it prepares us for the road of possibilites and situations that we may encounter. And when we read about the awesome success stories and how so many couples have been blessed, it brings joy to our hearts and encourages us to remain positive and to continue to trust in God. Jack and I struggled for several months before we finally decided to adopt. Once we actually put things in God's hands and allowed him to work, we experienced a peace that only God could give us. We have only been on line for a couple of weeks and already we have had such a great experience. We have been accepted by the CA family and allowed to be a part of such a wonderful support group. I did not realize how much we needed that. I now know why God directed us to CA. As Jack and I were talking, I told him that my outlook was so different now. When we were still actively trying to conceive; doctors, medications, etc..., I felt so let down. I wondered why God was depriving us of such a precious gift. I kept thinking about the fact that children are a gift from God and that being able to have children was a reward. I questioned God as to why we were not being rewarded when others that didn't even want children were having them. (I know this is messed up thinking, but I felt this way.)[From Deborah--We've all felt this way at one time or another as we have wrestled with not being able to bear our own children.] However, all of a sudden it hit me. And when I realized how selfish and rude I had been toward God, I prayed for His forgiveness. You see, I now realize that God has a special gift for Jack and I. He is not depriving us but rather He has chosen us to experience the precious gift of adoption. I realized that the whole time God was trying to bless us, we were basically saying, "No thanks, take it back, we want something else." Wow! That must have hurt. Anyway, I 'm now so excited and Jack and I are looking forward to the day when our birthmother will call and the day we will hold our precious child, a gift in our arms. Yes, it took me awhile to open my eyes but God finally got through to me. We are so thankful for all that we have already learned from others in CA!

Thank you to everyone!

Allison
