PRAYER PARTNERS ACROSS THE MILES
Chris and Teresa were led to us at a time when we really needed them. It was a wonderful time of reassurance for us, as we had doubts about what we were trying to do with Christian Adoption.
Chris and Teresa had their doubts too-about a successful adoption. They had spent months with a birthmother that had chosen them to adopt her unborn baby. They had developed a close relationship with the birthmother; treating her like family, spoiling her, spending time with her, attending doctor's appointments, and being present for the delivery. Imagine their car ride home that evening, as they planned the details for the next day. Imagine the excitement and anticipation the next morning as they got ready to go to the hospital to hold their child, receive the signed papers, and finally call their child by name. Imagine their emotional state when they arrived at the hospital and the birthmother and baby that had become so much a part of their hearts and lives-were both gone. POOF! Imagine their emotional heartache and despair. Their dreams were dashed and their hearts were broken.

God in His faithfulness and with His love helped their minds and healed their hearts. They found their strength in God and they put their trust in Him to guide them and direct them. They also had great confidence in the power of prayer and prayer partners.
PRAYER PARTNERS ACROSS THE MILES
Teresa and I began a regular dialogue of E-mail and she was willing to share her heart. She shared her fears and concerns, and I understood them fully. She asked for prayer and I gratefully responded. So often her letters were full of thanks for having someone to talk to, someone that cared, and someone that she knew would pray for them. And we did pray for them. We thought they needed a speedy match with a birthmother about to deliver, and that is what they thought and prayed for also.

God in His grace and mercy heard these prayers, and Chris and Teresa matched with a birthmother that lived only 4 hours from them and the baby was due in less than a month! God provided them with strong family support and their initial birthmother meet was a success! They spent most of their time speaking and sharing God's Word and His love with the birthmother and her mother. It was more a time of witnessing than socializing. God was working within them to encourage this young 18-year old birthmother to come back to His Word. Chris and Teresa began to pray diligently for their birthmother and her salvation, not just for her unborn child. They would share some of their prayers for her with me, and I would melt at my monitor. Such love, such kindness, such compassion, such examples-what a joy to know them!

We began a daily countdown towards the delivery date. Teresa and I would write and remind each other how many days were left. Eddie and I felt like this was our baby too! We became prayer partners and family in Christ, in love with God and each other. Here we were and here we are, with many miles separating us, but there is a bond and a connection that cannot be broken or changed by circumstances or distance.

Then came that E-mail message:
Deborah,
I only have a minute, but we just got the call and she's in labor. Please pray. This is it!!! Help!

Eddie and I paced and we prayed. Chris and Teresa's beautiful son was born just within 4 hours of that message. Then we received the wonderful news. Their call reminded us that investing time, giving love, demonstrating kindness, diligently praying and serving God and His people was what our lives were designed for. We tape-recorded the message Teresa left: " I am looking at the most beautiful baby boy you will ever see and he looks like an angel. He is perfect in every way. We are so happy and so thankful. His name is David, and we pray for him to be a man after God's own heart..."
