Dear Birth Family,

We are Christopher and Christine and we live in Maryland.

We can't imagine what you are experiencing, but we admire your courage to choose the wonderful gift of life for your baby. We believe that God has a plan for all of us and we pray that the words within our letter bring you comfort. We also pray for you to have God's peace with your decisions.

We have talked about having children ever since we first met each other. After the loss of a child, we learned experientially that God is the healer of our hearts. If we allow Him to work in our lives, He will manifest His power and deliverance. We have sought to understand our Father and increase our faith in His will for our lives. We are not perfect, but we are forgiven.

…for your Father knows what you need, even before you ask Him.  Matthew 6:8

A little about us…

Chris on Christy

I met Christy while in my junior year in college. We knew we were meant for each other from the moment that we first set eyes on each other. Christy is such a giving person with a very practical way of handling the many challenges of life. She has a degree in Sociology and is a Special Ed Teacher, working with teenagers with Special Needs. She is successful in her quest and I deeply admire her abilities. She loves music, sings in church, and is adept in leading worship, organizing plays and performing. I can't get her to stop singing wherever we go! She visits her grandmother in the nursing home, and whispers songs into her ear! I can see her genuine love for family in those moments. Her vocal talents are appreciated by the Praise Team at church also. Christy is dedicated to preserving our family memories through scrap booking. She also loves to read and collects classic storybooks for our child-to-be! Christy really shines when she is around children. Her example has been a source of encouragement for many, including myself, to become more involved in church youth activities. I can think of no higher praise than the respect of our church family and youth.

Christy on Chris

I've just not met anyone that is more fun than Chris! He's smart, giving, and selfless. I admire his ability to meet the needs of others. We've been married for almost 5 years and we're happier together than apart. We're best friends and I believe soul mates. Chris manages a real estate investment company, which is a family business. Chris is also a great cook and loves preparing German food (I suggest more Stir-Fry, but one day at a time!). Chris and I work together to take care of our home; we're an excellent team. He's an advocate for our community, an advocate for youth, an excellent example and I think he'll be a loving full time stay-at-home father. We have decided to not send our child to daycare, because we want to provide the attention that a stay-at-home parent can offer.

Our life…

We live in a very family oriented neighborhood, where we all pitch in to help each other. We walk every day to the park, passing young families, retired neighbors and empty nesters. It's great to be so close to a playground and to see the kids play. There's nothing better than the sound of children laughing! In the summer, we like to go to Ocean City to lay on the beach, enjoy the colors and sounds of the Boardwalk, sample excellent food, and find cool souvenirs to take home. We also like to conquer every nature trail we can find, toting our picnic packs on our backs as we hunt for a beautiful scenic spot to stop and lunch. We rescued our Celia from the Humane Society a few years ago. She's a Schnoodle--schnauzer and poodle mix! We're decorating our nursery and are excited about finishing it! We will continue to rely upon God's impeccable timing.

Our family…

Chris comes from a tight knit family, originally from Pennsylvania. We go to MomMom's for dinner on Sunday nights. In addition to a terrific home cooked meal, we enjoy listening to stories about when she and PopPop were our age, and receiving advice from them about life in general. Chris' Mom lives in New Jersey and although we don't get together often, she's excited about our decision to adopt. Our family is our greatest source of support and they are equally involved in church, so God is at the center of our relationships. Our trips with his parents to Disney World is a time of family memory making and reminiscing. Chris' Dad looks forward to being called 'Grandpa'!

Christy was raised in a family that spent a lot of time involved in church functions and ministries. Many of our family members live in Maryland and Christy's family has their yearly holiday Monopoly board game competition! We love the holidays and the many family traditions that date back several generations. Roasting marshmallows, board game-a-thons, road trips in winter, skiing the bunny trails, hiking, biking, swimming and enjoying cool nights and warm days. We love God's sunshine and fresh air. Christy has a deep love and respect for her mother and grandmother. Through example, her mother taught her children to be faithful, to pray for others, instilled family values and loved them unconditionally. Christy's sisters in Rhode Island and Ohio offer their faithful prayer support through our adoption process. Spending time with both of our families and our many church family members is precious to us. We are bonded with our 5-year-old nephew Maleke, and enjoy being a part of his open adoption relationship. He's such a joy and there's no shortage of hugs and kisses!

Our church…

Both of us were raised in the church, with a strong emphasis on building our faith and living a life that honors our Lord, bringing glory to His name. We believe that without God, life is empty and meaningless. Every day, we pray for each other to grow spiritually. We love being at church, working in and through the church to bring others to Christ. In addition to serving our church family through prayer and support, we're working on introducing a puppet ministry to the teens. Chris has a strong heart for the gospel, for evangelism in our community and for people around the world.

We have a full life, but pray to share it with a child. We both have a great sense of humor and are a loving couple. If God is leading you to us, we'd love to talk and pray with you. God knows your heart and He will guide you through every step of this process. It is through Him that all things are possible.

In His love,

Chris & Christy -- We're expecting !
