Dear Birthmother,
We are Michael and Lindsay and we live in Maryland.
Thank you and God bless you for considering adoption. We believe you're making an incredible decision of love and kindness for your child and for an adoptive couple. We believe God blesses all of us through this process.
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength.
We met in December 2003 on the Internet dating web site: Match.com ! From the very first cup of Starbucks we were in love and inseparable, which is great because Starbucks for two is about the same price as a tank of gas! We were married in 2006 and although it sounds cliché, we are best friends. Our relationship is built on love, respect, honor, loyalty, trust, and lots of humor. We’re most comfortable with being lighthearted; our house is full of laughter and goofy antics.
Ephesians 5:22 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
While our relationship with each other has grown, so has our relationship with Christ. I was raised Lutheran and baptized as a baby. Unfortunately, I drifted away from God during my teen years but slowly made my way back. God was never far from me, all I needed to do was turn around. Michael attended an Assembly of God church as a child, lost touch with God growing up, only to discover Him again when we married. Living for God has had an awesome impact on our marriage. Looking back on our lives when we lacked a relationship with Christ, we wonder “how did we make it on our own"? Life is so much better when we seek to have a relationship with Him!
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
We discovered a church in Lindsay’s old neighborhood and fell in love with it. We were both baptized in water (along with Lindsay’s mother) in October 2006. We attend a weekly Life Group, which is a small group that focuses on the message from that week’s service and explores it more deeply in order to apply it to daily life. This past year, our Life Group specifically targeted married couples. We learned about strengthening our marriages through Christ. Michael serves on the photography team at church (and possibly a children’s ministry team in the future) and Lindsay serves on the nursery team (possibly leading it in the near future). We also attend a monthly community outreach event called Servefest. During Servefest we “show God’s love in a practical way” by performing acts of kindness for people in the community such as raking leaves, picking up trash, bagging groceries, painting and landscaping schools. It is such a fun and rewarding ministry!
We have always wanted to adopt children and believe God has led us to begin growing our family. We will love and cherish God's gift to us and we have a strong commitment to parent a child. We recently moved from a condo to a house, and we hope and pray to fill our home with children! We're praying for God to bless us, but we also pray that your burden will be light and that God will give you peace about your decision.
Matthew 19:26 With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.
Lindsay...
Since the beginning of our relationship, I've known that Michael would make an excellent father! I observed the way he interacted with my nephew (now 13) and our friend's children. Michael is very playful, yet gentle and loving. He can get down on the floor and play with kids on their level, as well as be very silly! He is a responsible, trustworthy God-loving man whom our children will want to emulate.
Michael...
I am completely confident that Lindsay will be a loving and dedicated mother. God has given her a unique ability to nurture children. One day I stopped by her daycare job and she was surrounded by six crying kids, but she had the biggest smile on her face as she patiently cared for each child. She was right at home! Her interaction with children is full of love and positive influence.
Michael works in the IT dept of a major healthcare company and I work as a nanny. When we have free time, we like to go for walks and hikes, watch movies, camp, read, work on our house and spend lots of time with our family and friends. We also love cruises and amusement parks. My parents and siblings live a few minutes away and two of our closest friends live across the street. I have 2 sisters, one brother and a nephew who is like a little brother. Michael’s family resides in California and we keep in touch on a regular basis. Our families are very excited for us to welcome the newest member into our family! We intend to raise our children with a strong Christian foundation, dedicate them to God and actively participate in church functions. We're praying "now" for our children to know the love of Christ!
Thank you for reading about us. We are praying for you and your baby to find us!
God bless you,Michael & Lindsay -- We're matched !
