Dear Birthmom and family,
Hello! We are Steve, Colleen and Ariana from Northern Illinois.
We are humbled to add to our family again through adoption. After many years of infertility treatments and losses, God placed with us, our precious daughter, Ariana. We have had the chance to maintain an open relationship with her biological mom and baby brother during the last year. Ariana's birthmom has taught us invaluable lessons that we are thankful to have experienced. Adoption has brought more blessings to our family than we could have ever imagined. Our hope is that adoption will someday be viewed as a blessing to you, as well.
May the God of all hope, fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope in the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
About Us:
We met almost 20 years ago! Colleen was babysitting for Steve's nephews, and the rest is history. We enjoyed Homecomings and Proms together, and were married shortly after college (almost 16 years ago!). We have "grown up" together as we have experienced many of life's adventures. Steve is a devoted, hardworking, responsible husband who loves his family with all his heart! He has a great love for the outdoors and is most happy when boating or fishing. He is a great Dad to Ariana and is very active in her day-to-day upbringing. He is helpful with our Girl Scout troop, and volunteers at Ari's school. Steve is a self-employed carpenter, with a flexible schedule permitting him to be home whenever possible. Colleen is a caring, compassionate, "people-person". She has worked as a Registered Nurse for the past 18 years, primarily with women and children. She works flexible hours in a group home for delinquent teens. She is most happy when serving in her "MOM" role. Colleen's life desire has always been to be a wife and mother and she keeps our household running beautifully. She adores children! She enjoys scrap booking, boating, playing piano, sewing, and cooking (at least attempting to!). Ariana is a delightful 9 year old, who is an awesome big sister! Her grin and contagious laughter can bring a smile to people's faces in an instant! She can be contentedly playing with her dolls one minute and hanging out in a tree the next! She loves to swim, draw ("I'm artistic just like my birthmom"), sing, play piano, bake, and is active in Scouts. Ariana is very tender-hearted and is often the first to comfort an upset classmate. She prays for a sibling who "can live with us forever".
Our Family:
We are both the youngest of four children. Our parents have been married for 44 and 53 years, respectively. We are very close with our families, enjoy large family gatherings for birthdays and holidays, and vacation together when possible. We have 15 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. Our families have been a constant source of support. We live a fairly simple, secure and traditional lifestyle along with our dog, "Buddy". Weekdays are filled with school and work, after school activities, family suppers enjoyed around the table, board games, and bedtime stories. Weekends are spent enjoying time with family and friends, boating, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin in Wisconsin.
Our Church Family:
We attend a Lutheran Church (ECLA) which is less than a mile from our home. We are blessed to be involved with a family of faith-filled believers. We are active in the Sunday School Program, help with greeting and ushering, are on the altar guild, and participate in the Social Ministry. Colleen and Ari were very active in MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), which our church sponsors for our local community.
Our Home:
We live in a very friendly and family-oriented neighborhood. Colleen grew up playing in the house that we now live in, and her parents live a block away. Steve's brother also lives in the same subdivision. It is wonderful to have family so close! We have a large yard, filled with trees for climbing, a long driveway for trike riding, and a pool for swimming. We have remodeled each room, one by one, to make this house "our" home. It is often the gathering place for family and friends, who are always welcome.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways remember him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
We are trusting that God will lead our birthmom to us, who will place the child with us who is meant to become a part of our family. We continue to keep all birthmoms in our prayers. We pray specifically for your strength, courage, and peace. We thank you for considering us as the family for your child, and we thank you for choosing life.
All God's Goodness To You,
Steve, Colleen & Ariana -- We're matched !
