In 11.03 birthmother Darlene called Christian Adoption to ask about the adoption process.
I spoke with her at length about her very convoluted set of circumstances. She was married but getting a divorce; the birthfather of her unborn baby wasn't her husband; she was moving across the country; the birthfather refused to terminate his parental rights (TPR), she needed a planned c-section and didn't have insurance; we needed a legal father TPR and a biological father TPR. I suggested that Darlene call back when she was moved, settled and prayerfully had some support from the legal and biological fathers. She told me, before hanging up, that she only wanted to place her baby with Bob & Melanie.
I prayed and then dismissed the situation due to the many legal complications and physical logistics. But about 10 days ago Darlene called back and asked,
"Where are Bob & Melanie's profile? I can't find their profile on Christian Adoption and I want them to adopt my baby."
"Darlene, their profile has been placed in abeyance, while they're going to school and changing careers. I can send you a hard copy of their profile, but are you interested in any other couples currently online?"
"NO! They are the only Christian Adoption couple I will consider. I want them."
"Okay, I'll rebuild a link to their profile and get it back online."
"Good, because the birthfather will TPR and he wants to read about them now. I've moved across the country into my parent's home. This baby is for Bob & Melanie."
I immediately uploaded Bob & Melanie's profile online. [That same night, another adoptive couple that was undecided about listing their profile with Christian Adoption, revisited the website and read about Bob & Melanie. Their profile confirmed God's guidance for their lives and they came online with Christian Adoption!]
Darlene and the birthfather read Bob & Melanie's profile and became 110% committed to an adoption plan. Soon, Darlene sent me lots of details: delivery date, birthfather's name and location, mailing address, hospital info, delivery plan, and an open door for additional information. This was a "match" and a go!
Those are the facts, but the awesome spiritual perspective follows.
When we placed Bob & Melanie's profile in abeyance, it offered them the mental and emotional freedom to focus on their higher education and training. They chose to utilize that their temporary abeyance time as a time to reflect and to seek God's guidance for their lives.
At no time, did any of us suggest they had quit.
At no time, did any of us imply they were being cheated or short changed, by having their profile held in abeyance.
Their believing and commitment to seek God's face fully was honored by our loving Father.
During the time their profile was in abeyance, they received the Christian Adoption updates, continued communication with other Christian Adoption couples, faithfully prayed for others, maintained their hope to adopt, gave to others in Christian Adoption, financially supported Christian Adoption, and received all the benefits of the ministry of Christian Adoption.
Their attitude and thankful perspective is noteworthy.
God was still working out their deliverance~on or offline with Christian Adoption!
How does a birthmother choose a Christian Adoption couple for placement, even though their profile isn't online?
The answer is obvious.
These adoption testimonies fill our lives with HISTORY=HIS STORY!
These are the testimonies that help encourage the discouraged.
These are the testimonies that bring renewed hope to the hopeless.
This adoption testimony and hundreds of others in Christian Adoption, bring glory to God!
