RESPONSIBILITY

Most problems don't just go away or vanish by themselves. Problems become obstacles because we don't deal with them and/or we don't accept responsibility for them. Unless we face our challenges in life, they will quietly motivate, drive, and defeat us. As we seek God's help to overcome obstacles in our lives, it is prudent to accept our responsibility.

Perhaps we should consider 3 primary sources for the challenges in our lives:

1. Ourselves

2. Other people

3. Our spiritual adversary

Sometimes we hear Christian couples say they've quit pursuing adoption because it's the Lord's will. However, upon further inquiry we learn of their lack of willingness to believe in God's financial provision for their adoption process. Or we're told that waiting on God's timing is simply "too slow". Or they've declared they're too old or one spouse has decided to withdraw all emotional risk from the adoption journey. No matter what the excuse, the point is that "they" decided, even though they insist it's the Lord's will. It becomes obvious that their decision to give up isn't from Him. Why? Because their hearts are in turmoil, they've lost hope, and they still complain. God's Word states that …the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy, and good fruits...  James 3:17  Rather than blame God for our weaknesses, we should accept responsibility for the decisions we make. It's disrespectful to our heavenly Father when we imply His love has failed us. Perhaps we should look within and ask if we're willing to submit to God's leading, no matter what the sacrifice. As we look to God for guidance and direction, we will receive His deliverance and peace. God's Word records the testimonies of men and women who "stayed put", no matter how great the burden. We encourage our Christian Adoption couples to remain faithful to God's leading. We exhort our Christian Adoption couples to stay the course.

In seeking God's will for our lives, we are instructed to study His Word as we rightly divide the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15  As we meditate upon His Word and remain in prayer, He is faithful to deliver. God is not slack concerning His promises--they all belong to Him.

...A birthmother calls us, pregnant for the 6th time, each by a different birth father. She confidently states, "Well, it must be God's will for me to get pregnant, so I can give the babies away."  Excuse me?!  What about abstinence? What about keeping the bed holy until marriage? What about recognizing one's personal responsibility?

...There was a man driving down the road in his car approaching a donut shop. He prayed, "Lord, if you want me to have a donut, let there be a parking place right in front of the donut store." As he drove by with salivating anticipation, he disappointingly found a full parking lot. But after he drove around the block 6 times...aha, an open spot right in front of the donut shop! "Oh, thank you Lord for showing me your will."  Excuse me?!

...One day, a man was flying in a 1-seater airplane. The sky was clear, the air was crisp, and the heavens greeted him. Suddenly he heard the sound of an animal inside the cockpit. It was a rat! What could he do? He couldn't get out of his seat to catch it, and he couldn't reach behind the seat to grab it--so he started to soar higher. As the plane increased in altitude, the cabin pressure dropped as did the oxygen level. The rat was overcome by the change in atmospheric conditions and it died. This man decided to soar higher which took care of his problem.

In the challenges of life and in the emotional challenges of Christian Adoption--we encourage you to soar to new heights with God. Keep your eyes fixed on things above, namely His unfailing promises. One day, in His timing, deliverance will be yours!
