THE OASIS
Written by Deborah.
4.23.10
I’ve visited, lived in, seen, experienced and thirsted in a lot of deserts.
I’ve travailed through so many deserts, I can’t even number them.
And I can’t show you a picture of them either.
The map of my mind has been criss-crossed with many wanderings through the wilderness as I crossed desert terrain in my mind.
As a believer, as a strong Christian, and as a faithful servant of God—I’m sure you’ve seen your share of desert wasteland. Some of us get more than our “fair” share because of previous desert training and savvy. But, no matter how much each of us has thirsted for refreshment, for a moment of respite, for a kind gesture, and for good news—there is an oasis “aha” moment waiting for us every day.
An oasis is a place of refreshing and regeneration. We can get our battery recharged, if even a little, and we also can receive a renewed determination to press ahead.
Desert places aren’t fun or scenic, but an oasis becomes an indescribable moment, when we’re in the wilderness.
I thank God for the many moments of refreshment that have become an oasis for my mind and heart, through our Christian Adoption Family.
The more I look, anticipate, expect, and pray for God to direct my steps to the next oasis, the greater the sweetness of the cold waters.
God is pleased when we ask with believing.
God is blessed when we expect to receive.
God is tickled when we anticipate His direction to another oasis.
God loves us and guides us from “aha” moment to “aha” moment, as we continue to walk in the steps of Jesus Christ.
I once thought that when I became a mother that I’d gain permanent freedom from desert travels.
However, I’ve learned that my mental map is being traversed more often than before and there doesn’t appear to be an end to the imprinting.
May we all reach out and provide an oasis “aha” moment for one another in our Christian Adoption Family.
Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
