Dear Birthparent(s),
Hi! We are Mark, Mary and Andrew from Minnesota.
We know you're facing challenging times and difficult decisions, but we're grateful you've chosen adoption for your child. We're praying for God's peace to comfort you.
Mark and I met in 1999 through my college roommate and we married in 2001. Our faith gives strength to our marriage and is the foundation for our parenting. We know that Andrew is in our life because of God’s plan for us to be a family. We read Andrew’s story Bible to him each night and enjoy singing his Sunday school songs.
Mark is the Youth Minister for our church. He works mainly with junior high and high school students, but also is leading an outreach ministry to college students at a local university. He is a sports fan, plays guitar, and is a great dad. I'm in awe of his patience with Andrew since day 1. Mark jumped right in and changed diapers as well as walked and soothed Andrew during the night. He has been teaching Andrew the “big stuff”-like how to ride a bike, throw a ball, play golf, and print the alphabet. What I enjoy most though, is watching Mark teach Andrew the "little stuff"-like how to thumb wrestle…every kid needs to know that!
I work as a pharmacist at a local clinic. I have been there for 11 years and enjoy my work. My coworkers are among my closest friends. We're not open evenings, holidays or weekends, so I only work 4 days per week. We're blessed to have a lot of family time and eat dinner together most nights. I enjoy reading to Andrew as he snuggles next to me!
Andrew is almost 5 and we adopted him from Guatemala when he was 4 months old. That was an incredible experience and daily we say prayers of thanks for his birth mom and foster mom, who cared for him until we could bring him home. In addition to celebrating his birthday, we honor "Gotcha Day" every year. We tell Andrew our story about waiting for him, praying for him, and traveling to meet him. He looks thru his photo album frequently to identify people and places in Guatemala. Andrew is the light of our life, and he's a very happy and loving boy. He's been asking for a baby for 2 years and we know he'll be a wonderful big brother! He loves books, cars, trucks, and sports of all kinds. He also enjoys singing and is an enthusiastic dancer!
We have lived in our home for 9 years and our neighborhood is very family-friendly with lots of children. We have many parks within walking distance and spend most summer evenings outdoors. We enjoy biking, hiking, boating, fishing, and camping as a family. Our extended family lives within a 5 hour drive which includes grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of all ages. Andrew’s grandparents are retired and enjoy spending lots of time with him.
We're praying for you and asking God to bless and guide you!
