Dear Deborah,
I'm pretty good about bringing my "big" things to God like physical health, financial, emotional, and spiritual needs. But I know His desire is for me to bring EVERYTHING to Him in prayer. "Go to the Throne before you go to the phone." Christian Adoption is a living example of the awesome power of prayer. There's peace while living in prayer moment by moment. I'm going to follow your example and begin prayer walking!
I recently attended a Women's Retreat and took my precious baby Anita. She was her normal happy, talking, alert, and smiling self. Anita even slept through the night while some late-nighters had a good time until 2:30 Am! There was much good fellowship, praise and singing! But the highlight of my weekend was when a woman asked me if she could hold Anita. As we talked she mentioned hearing that Anita was adopted. She'd observed the love between us and it comforted her! You see, 17 years ago, she placed her baby girl for adoption. She's always known she made the right decision placing her child with a Christian couple, but seeing us gave her complete peace. We hugged and cried together. I'm so humbled that God worked within me in this small way to give solace to a sister in Christ! It's a powerful reminder that God can work in any situation.
I just can't find the words to express what these first 4 days have been like in Christian Adoption. I feel like I've known the other families for years! When I receive the email from the Christian Adoption Family or read the Christian Adoption Family Updates, I realize I'm part of something very special. Please share our extreme gratitude to the other families, how much they're appreciated. They have responded to us with well wishes, prayers, and a willingness to share very personal stories. These last few nights as I've laid in bed, I've thought, "Even if we don't adopt, we are truly blessed to have met so many loving people through Christian Adoption." Not only is Christian Adoption giving us support in the adoption process, but I know this ministry is strengthening my relationship with God. What a wonderful gift!
I'm enjoying being a part of Christian Adoption! I appreciate the BIBLICAL approach to our needs being met. We were surprised by the welcome we received from the Christian Adoption Family! I wish I could express how I feel on the inside about the interest, the concern, and the support with and for us. I've ached so terribly on the inside and I've had no one to talk to for so long. I've hid my suffering with a smile and have poured out my soul only to God. Just to know there are others who relate to my emotions and that have gone down this path also, gives me solace and strength.
I was in K-Mart the other day and ran into a distant relative that I rarely see. He asked me if we had any children and I told him we're adopting. As we continued our conversation he mentioned some friends that live in Ohio. They've been trying to adopt for over 2 years. It gave me an opportunity to share about Christian Adoption and I gave him a Christian Adoption business card. The next day he emailed me a copy of his message to his friends in Ohio. I was so excited! Then we received another email from his friends in Ohio! It was great to connect with someone across the country. We were able to share stories and encouragement. I know that God may guide them to come online with Christian Adoption or He may lead them in another direction. But I felt strongly that I should share our good report about Christian Adoption. It felt good to share with someone else and to give them our support. I know that God strengthens us through our experiences. I believe He also leads others to us that are going through the same situations. Thanks again for allowing God to work through Christian Adoption!
