VIEWPOINTS
Written by Deborah.
We naturally consider situations from our own viewpoint. But in the adoption process, it is prudent to consider several viewpoints. In Christian Adoption we see these viewpoints as a probable 2-sided coin.
Birth Parents/Adoptive Couples
*Fear of rejection/Fear of acceptance
*Possible sense of shame due to choices made/Possible sense of shame due to failed attempts regarding choices
*Who are these people?/Who are these people?
*Unplanned pregnancy/Unplanned choice for parenthood
*We know we're pregnant/We hope and pray to become parents
*Need to find an adoptive couple/Need to be found by birth parents
*Can we trust these people?/Can we trust these people?
*We have never placed a child/We have never adopted a child
*We're afraid of making the wrong decision/We're afraid of making the wrong decision
*Wish we were not in this position/Wish we were not in this position
*Our parents were this way and taught us /Our parents were this way and taught us…
*Our past experiences influence our thinking/Our past experiences influence our thinking
*We have to be sure/We pray they are sure
*We've never been through adoption/We've never been through adoption
*Our age affects our perspective/Our age affects our perspective
*Our pastor shared with us.../Our pastor shared with us...
Each party involved in the adoption process is part of the same coin, even though the perceptions are different.
Christian Adoption places our hope and prayers in God's sovereignty and willingness to answer our prayers.
We believe that God is glorified by the placements.births associated with Christian Adoption.
