DOMINOES

"She beat me! The first game of dominoes Danielle has ever played and she beat me!" "Well, that's not a surprise Eddie, Danny's long suit is logic."

Eddie grew up playing dominoes, big family games of dominoes, and all day games of dominoes. Teaching someone the strategies of the game comes naturally. Danielle picked right up on the logical aspect and won every game against Dad, the first night they played. However, they both had more fun setting up the dominoes on end, back to back, designing patterns and watching them fall. We all know this as the domino effect. Scientists call it a chain reaction, farmers call it the trickle down effect, and pool sharks call it the cue ball effect. One domino, one atomic particle, one livestock animal or pool ball hits another and energy is set in motion. That energetic motion might be in the form of something physical, something chemical, something biological, and/or well, the list goes on and on. The effect is the same--once in motion, energy continues to travel in motion until the energy is transferred in it's entirety to another source. No energy is ever lost or destroyed--it is simply transferred.

This physical principle of transfer can be a blessing for Christian Adoption couples still waiting for God's answers or it can be their downfall. Every waiting adoptive couple is influenced by the energy released around them. This may be in the form of words, emotions and/or physical support--or lack thereof. We are vulnerable when we have need in our lives and we can be easily "knocked over" when we allow the sadness, disappointments, emotions and/or actions of others effect us.

Fear, worry, and anxiety can bring about a domino affect within our Christian Adoption family if many "buy into" these false evidences appearing real (FEAR). In other words, we can fellowship with one another but must still guard our minds, so that we are not "hit" and thus succumb to these negative and promise defeating attitudes. I've seen this "domino" effect occur in waves. One couple will share their fears about adoption with emotional intensity coupled with deep anxiety and another couple is ill effected. That ill effected couple then shares with another couple and the energy continues to be transferred until someone takes a bold stand against it. No one promised that the adoption roller coaster ride of adoption would be easy, but it can be exciting. No one promised that it would be fun, but it can be entertaining. No one promised that the ride is full of "blissful" moments, but it can result in some of the greatest milestones of spiritual growth. No one promised that everyone in CA would walk in love, but there are brothers and sisters in Christ that we bond with--for life.

Each of us, as members in particular, in the body of Christ and in our Christian Adoption family has a responsible to control our thinking and to stand against the deceitful tricks of our adversary. Our spiritual opponent is worthy of our respect and we would do well to understand that he has an objective when he "hammers" on one couple. If possible, take down, knock down, divide and conquer as many Christians as possible with an initial hit.

Daily we are challenged to confess God's Word. Daily we can claim the victory through Christ Jesus. Daily we can walk in love towards others and build each other up, rather than knock each other down. Today or tomorrow what will you do? We only have 1 life to live and give for His highest. May we rise up to the level of God's matchless Word and give our utmost for His highest.

Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statues; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction; for thy word hath quickened me.

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgements. I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statues.

Psalms 119: 33-36; 49-50; 62-64
